I. Context of the Mission

In January 2017, the African Union mandated the APRM to aid its member states in the area of financial ratings. Following this, a robust policy framework was designed for strategic and operational assistance in financial ratings preparations, management, and execution. Objectives include raising awareness among sectors about sovereign credit ratings’ implications, enabling member states to partake in comprehensive financial, political, economic, and social impact assessments, and furnishing them with reliable data for rating agencies. The framework also supports the analyses and assessments of ratings, offering independent insights, and promotes networking among experts for sharing best international credit rating practices. Lastly, it aims to offer technical support to the governments in the adoption of acceptable recommendations while providing assistance in establishing regulatory frameworks for credit rating agencies within respective territories. APRM, with support from the Open Society Foundation (OSF), is recruiting an experienced Lead Credit Rating Researcher for this program.

The selected Lead Credit Rating Researcher will be attached to the Governance and Specialized Reports Directorate and will be tasked with researching macroeconomic trends and their impact on financial markets and Africa’s ability to access capital markets. They will also verify the accuracy of financial analyses and technical data used in international rating agencies’ credit assessments.

Application Process and Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a comprehensive dossier containing both a technical and financial offer, updated curriculum vitae, reachable references, and supporting documents. The technical offer must demonstrate an understanding of the tasks and responsibilities as well as proven expertise in the financial ratings field.
